About
Motion Pictures of Saranac Lake's Historic Past
Join us for a presentation of rarely seen film footage recorded in and around the village of Saranac Lake from the 1920s through the 1960s. Included among the many film clips are downtown scenes when the streets were shared by early automobiles and horse drawn wagons, water sports, ice sports on Pontiac Bay, President Calvin Coolidge's 1926 visit, FDR's 1929 visit and much, much more.
The films are presented and narrated by award winning local independent films and video producers, director and director of photography Jim Griebsch. Jim has been working with the Adirondack Research Room in the Saranac Lake Free Library to restore and digitize the William Kollecker film collection. The presentation footage is now shown at its highest quality in full HD video.
The film presentation is free, but if you are so inclined a donation in any amount to support further restoration and preservation of the Kollecker Film Collection would be most appreciated and well used.
